Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a liver infection transmitted through semen, vaginal fluids and blood. It typically lasts for a few months but can last longer. It usually goes away on its own, but your GP will refer you to a liver specialist and may offer medicine to help manage symptoms.

Vaccinations are available for at-risk people.

Symptoms

  • High temperature

  • Tiredness

  • Pain in your upper tummy

  • Nausea

  • Hives

  • Jaundice (yellowing skin and eyes)
